Thanks for checking out our post that is going to fully break down the best things to do on a date in Omaha with both date night ideas and more fun things to do with your special someone during the day. Of course some of the things we mention to do on a local date night can also be a lot of fun when the sun is out and vice versa so don’t be too rigid about the sections.
Kicking us off will be a list of the most romantic restaurants in Omaha for a date night and you are certainly not lacking for options particularly around Old Market, Dundee, and The Benson Strip. After that we will discuss more fun things to do on a date night in your area including a wide variety of live entertainment venues.
Table of Contents
Day dates will come next and there will be lists of cool outdoor places to hang out like parks and hiking trails, indoor venues like museums and art galleries, and of course some places to grab a drink or a bite to eat like brunch spots, cafes, ice cream shops, and sweet shops.
Additional entertainment venues that often combine alcohol and some sort of game or activity will be discussed as well. A couple sections on the most expensive and high end options or on how to plan a cheap date near you at night or during the day will be shared as well.
Any single men that are reading this should read our post on the best nightclubs and bars to pick up Omaha women, and even if you already have a partner check it out because ending your date night dancing at one of the nightlife spots in that post is probably one of your best options.

Planning A Date During The Day
These are some of the best outdoor places to explore on a date during the day:
- Standing Bear Lake
- Heartland of America Park
- Kenefick Park & Lauritzen Gardens
- Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium
- Fontenelle Forest
- Wildlife Safari Park
If the weather will oblige we definitely suggest you try and spend at least some of your time outdoors together, a sunny day is as likely to put a smile on their face as anything. Fontenelle Forest has 20 miles of hiking trails to explore, while the Wildlife Safari Park in Ashland is a short drive South on 1-80.
If you go to Ashland consider stopping at Cellar 426 Winery. To get some additional culture and sophistication on a date during the day in Omaha try:
- Durham Museum
- Joslyn Art Museum
- Union Pacific Railroad Museum
- Bemis Center For Contemporary Arts
- Lewis Art Gallery
Think about taking a class or seeing an open house at the Hot Shops Art Center.
Enjoying a quick meal, drink, or some sweets at one of these spots would also be a good idea:
- Early Bird Brunch at 3824 Farnam St #120

- Old Market Candy Shop at 1005 Howard St
If you want a full meal then maybe stick with one of the romantic restaurants near you from the date nights section, most of them should have a lunch menu and they will often be a little cheaper before dinner. That list we just shared is more like brunch spots, healthy bites, cafes, and bakeries or ice cream parlors.
And for a combination of games, entertainment, and alcohol head to:
- Beercade at 6104 Maple St
- Topgolf at 908 N 102nd St
- Craft Axe Throwing at 2562 Leavenworth St #100
Beercade is open from 2pm to 2am on weekdays and starting at noon on weekends, Topgolf is open all day, and you can throw axes at Craft from 4pm to 9pm Wednesday through Thursday, noon to 11pm on Friday and Saturday, and from noon to 7pm on Sunday.
You can always just go to the Old Market, Dundee, and Benson Strip areas on foot and try to find something unique and interesting to check out, while spending some time at the House of Conundrum Escape Room might be a fun idea too.
If the Nebraska football team is having a big game then head to Lincoln and hope they win, plus we have covered all kinds of things to do with your special someone in Des Moines right there.
Cheap Date Ideas In Omaha
Anyone that is searching for free or cheap date ideas in Omaha has some options, our favorites would probably be the Wildlife Safari Park in Ashland which is $12 for adults or the $5 tour of Lauritzen Gardens which lasts around 50 minutes.
For a cheap date night go grab a meal at Railcar Modern American Kitchen and then get some laughs at the Funny Bone.
We Hope You Have A Great Time Together
Hopefully you and your partner will have a great local date night together if you go to the right places and set the right mood. Any single readers out there may want to log on to Adult Friend Finder to find someone to take on a date, or maybe to invite straight over to your place because that site is all about easy hook ups. However what starts as a quick hook up can often lead to more serious dating in your area down the line.
At this point you learned about the top romantic restaurants near you as well as entertainment venues, outdoor places, museums and art galleries, and some cafes, brunch spots, and sweet shops so you should be fully prepared to show her a great time. We truly hope this post on the best things to do on a date in Omaha at night or in the daytime has been helpful.
