Now lets get into some travel and dating tips for tourists and new expats in town. Lets cover the travel first, you can get to Sihanoukville from Phnom Penh in a few ways, most people take a bus, van, or taxi but you can also fly in.
The bus will run you around $5 and take close to 5 hours, a van will cost around $10 and take 4 hours, a taxi will charge $60ish but you can split it up between everyone taking the ride and it will take 3 to 3.5 hours. A flight will probably be over $100 per person.
To get to Koh Rong you want to take one of the speed boats from the pier and that will cost you $20 round trip. There are cheaper options but they take a lot longer.
Everything in Sihanoukville is cheap, hotels can easily be found for under $20 with air conditioning or fan rooms can be had for $5. On Koh Rong the prices will be higher, you may need to pay $30 to stay in a tiki hut with no electricity. There are also no roads on the island yet so expect to go everywhere on foot.
The travel part of the equation is easy to figure out, this is your typical tourist beach town with just about all of the singles nightlife and things to do nearby. Now lets move over to the dating side of the equation and our advice here is the same as it was when we were talking about Phnom Penh.
This is an extremely poor country where the average monthly wage is under $200. It is also a very religious and conservative place and a very low percentage of Khmer people go out to party.
